Campbell College, Belfast
Campbell College is one of Northern Ireland’s oldest and most respected boys grammar schools.
It sits within stunning grounds in east Belfast and contains an eclectic mix of buildings, from the wonderful Grade B1 listed main building, to some tired and dated additions from the 60’s and 70’s.
The practice was retained by the Board of Governors to prepare a new vision for the school and develop a masterplan for its redevelopment over the next thirty years.
The adopted approach propose a programme of refurbishment and new build interventions, where the spaces between the buildings have been given careful consideration to further enhance the quality of the campus.
Detail design proposals have also been developed for a new 10 laboratory science block, with associated supporting facilities and an innovative stepped teaching / informal study space, together with a new state of the art sports complex containing a four badminton court hall, 25m pool, fitness suite and associated changing and social spaces.
