Tim Burgess
Tim joined TODD Architects as the Principal of the London Studio in 2022. A versatile architect, and practice leader, Tim came to TODD’s with 12 years’ experience of business leadership as a Managing Director, and a track record of business growth. His appointment consolidates the practice’s strategic plan to continue their strong growth in the London market.
Before joining TODD’s, Tim learned his craft working for Sir Richard MacCormac on such projects as the Science Museum Extension, Harrow College and the ‘Sustainable Suburbia’ research project. He also led and delivered the ssGreatBritain Museum and Visitors Centre in Bristol, which won the international museum of the year award when it opened in 2006. He has gone on to complete a Business Growth Programme at Cranfield Management Centre, and completed a course on Real Estate Economics and Finance at the LSE, bringing business insight to his design work.
Outside of the office, Tim acts as Visiting Critic at the University of Bath, where he was also held a post as a part-time teaching fellow for 8 years. He also sits on the Southwark Design Review panel as part of multi-disciplinary panel reviewing major developments in Southwark. Tim also finds time to support the Blueprint for All charity as a voluntary mentor to young people from ethnically diverse backgrounds.
Over the past 10 years, Tim has run his own smaller practice focusing on achieving challenging planning consents in nearly all the London Boroughs, and has worked directly with LB Southwark and Camden, on looking at way to increase and delivery their housing targets. It is this insight and experience that Tim brings to TODD’s extensive delivery expertise, that has been the catalyst for growth in the residential and commercial sectors in the South East.
