Caithness – Moray HVDV Link & Interconnector, Scotland
An Interconnector is a subsea and underground High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) electric power transmission link between sustainable power generation fields and the countries main generating network or connecting electricity supplies between different countries. Converter stations are located at each end of the power transmission link to convert the DC power to AC.
The practice was retained by engineer Doran Consulting to provide the architectural services on this particular facility for provider ABB, terminating a cable that extends across the Moray Firth.
BIM modelling was critical in ensuring the effective coordination of the building fabric, with the heavily engineered pieces of equipment that sit within it.
