City Square House, Leeds
City Square House occupies one of the most important sites in Leeds City Centre. The site was vacant, following the demolition of a previous building on the site. Our proposal for a headquarters office development sought to establish a piece of landmark architecture, appropriate to the importance of the setting.
Our solution incorporates two basic forms, a taller element relating to the civic scale of City Square and a lower element that ties the development into the streetscape of Wellington Street.
The trapezoidal form of the taller element sets up a wonderful dynamic to the architecture, that is given further visual interest in the play between contrasting glazed and stone facades.
