Herbert Smith Freehills
Operating in Belfast since 2011 was the first international law firm to set up in Belfast. It has grown from 19 to 200 qualified lawyers, legal analysts and eDiscovery specialists. Since covid-19 the business has adapted to a new home working and flexible working model, and their current office was static and was formulated for their old way of working. TODD Architects were bought in to help implement a more agile and flexible style of working, and to help with their business case for the refurbishment of the office. Creating a 60/40 ratio for homeworking TODD Architects put forward a case to retain all the floors but to provide more agile working spaces and help boost collaboration in the space. By creating three new floor layouts, creating zones for fixed, mobile and agile working.
The plans for Belfast are being used as a test bed for their other international office to see if the model will be applicable in London to Brisbane. Using their corporate colour palette to give a not to their branding and ethos, TODD Architects has created a light, flexible working space which will give their colleagues a choice of uplifting spaces to work and want to return to the office post covid.
