Royal Belfast Hospital for Sick Children
This project was awarded as the result of winning a design competition in which six teams were short-listed and requested to submit scheme designs.
As lead consultant of the winning team, we were not only responsible for the design, but for the co-ordination of all consultant disciplines and were charged with ensuring the scheme was completed on time and within budget.
The management of this complex project involved close liaison with representatives of both user and client bodies and the direction of the other consultants on the design team.
The design allowed for the full, uninterrupted operation of the existing services for the duration of the works, ensuring continuity of service and care.
The hospital was awarded the Liam McCormick Award in the RSUA Design Awards 2000.
